Rep. Drew MacEwen says he's running for a second term in the state House.
The Union Republican in 2012 won the seat formerly held by a Democrat. No Democrat has yet filed to run against MacEwen in the rural 35th district.
Here's his news release:
Shelton This past Tuesday, before a large group of supporters, 35th District State Representative Drew MacEwen (R-Union) officially announced his re-election bid for the Washington State Legislature.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Mason, Kitsap and Thurston Counties in Olympia. Ive done my best to represent the residents of this great district, but there is much more work left for me to accomplish. I humbly ask for your support for my re-election. -- MacEwen told the large and enthusiastic crowd gathered at Smoking Mos Restaurant.
During the 2013 and 2014 Legislative Session, Representative MacEwen was a leader in the House of Representatives in helping our veterans, funding education and working to create family wage jobs.
MacEwen prime sponsored and passed legislation (HB 2130) that aids current military personnel and veterans, as well as members of the National Guard, to transition into civilian life. This is important first step to helping those men and women who have so faithfully served our nation, said MacEwen.
Representative MacEwen also worked with House Democrats and Republicans in promoting legislation to provide additional funding in schools to reduce K-3 class sizes. While the bill passed out of the House, it failed in the Senate. We have a duty and responsibility to fully fund education. Our kids must come first, said MacEwen
MacEwen told supporters that helping small businesses in the district to create family-wage jobs continues to be a top of priority for next legislative session. I led the charge to reduce the B&O tax on small businesses and will do so again next year. It is a critical element of helping employers create jobs we so desperately need, said MacEwen.
Working together, we can make it morning again in America! said MacEwen.
Drew MacEwen resides in Union with his wife Danelle and two teenage sons. Drew is the owner and founder of Falcon Financial, past President of the Shelton/Mason County Chamber of Commerce, and a current member of the Shelton Rotary.
