In a recent letter a woman took issue with the film “Noah,” pointing out that it is not biblically accurate. My letter follows in the same vein. The movie currently playing, titled “Heaven is for Real” is about a young boy’s visit to heaven and back.
While it is a charming and inspiring film (based upon the book) it’s important to note that it, like Noah, is not biblically correct. This causes me concern that some people will be misled or led astray as to this heavenly topic. Many theologically correct books about heaven have been published. But ones by Billy Graham or Randy Alcorn or Dr. David Jeremiah rarely get the press that this one does.
Is it because they never claimed to visit heaven and return? Sensationalism sells.
As far as young Colton Burpo, it is not for me to decide just what happened with him: A vision. A dream. A young boy’s vivid imagination. But trust me; he did not visit the heaven described in the Bible.
