OLYMPIA: Expanded cleanup crews hit the streets

New, expanded Clean Teams have hit the streets of downtown Olympia.

Capital Recovery Center announced that its Downtown Ambassador Program has expanded the Clean Team from three to four members, starting April 23.

In teams of two, the uniformed crew picks up litter and needles. The Clean Team will also focus on graffiti removal, according to program directors.

The program’s expansion was made possible by $25,650 in Community Development Block Grants. Approved by the Olympia City Council in January, the money is being directed from the city’s Isthmus Park project.

The public is encouraged to report graffiti and discarded needles by calling the Ambassador Hotline at 360-570-3900.
