Patrol says wrong-way driver caused I-5 crash

May 17, 2014

The Washington State Patrol says a wrong-way driver was responsible for a crash early Friday on Interstate 5 near Lacey.

The patrol said Michael R. McDonald, 44, of Longbranch was driving a 2013 Hyundai north in the southbound lanes for three miles before hitting Saul Cabreracarillo, 47, of Seattle at the Nisqually Exit 114.

Both drivers and a passenger in Cabreracarillo’s car were injured, and the southbound lanes were closed for about three hours.

The patrol said the wrong-way driver was booked into the Thurston County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
