Yelm High's Bergh named state History Teacher of the Year

Yelm High School teacher Teacher Ed Bergh facilitates a spirited yet well-reasoned class round table discussion on the landmark Roe V Wade abortion ruling during their American government class in 2012. That's when Bergh was honored as the Washington State Civics Teacher of the Year. He recently won Washington State History Teacher of the Year, and is in the running for a national award.

Yelm High School teacher Ed Bergh has been named the Washington History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, according to principal Brian Wharton.

Bergh is now in the running for the national teacher of the year award from Gilder Lehman.

As part of the award, Yelm High School will receive a donation of resources for its library, Wharton said.

Bergh has taught at Yelm for about 40 years.
