Memorial Day events across South Sound

Memorial Day events planned for Monday:

  • Thurston County Veterans Council event, 11 a.m.-noon, Capitol Rotunda. The event will feature a band, a chamber choir, speakers and a cannon and rifle salute.
  • Olympia Rolling Thunder service, noon-2 p.m., Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Capitol Campus.
  • Joint Base Lewis-McChord service, 11:30 a.m., on-post cemetery. Guest speaker is 7th Infantry Division Deputy Commander Willard Burleson.
  • DuPont Memorial Day service, 2 p.m., Ross Plaza, 1500 Ross Loop. JBLM senior Army officer Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza will be featured.
  • Open house, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Forest Funeral Home, 2501 Pacific Ave. SE, Olympia.
  • Memorial Day commemoration, 2 p.m., Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater. Guest speaker is Army Capt. Wolf Hindrichs.
  • Memorial Day observance, 4 p.m., Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Road SE, Lacey.
