Seems like open season on folks in crosswalks

OlympiaMay 30, 2014

I

have come to believe that the walk sign at crosswalks is actually a beacon to cars: Hurry up! A pedestrian is trying to cross! Race them to the crosswalk! If you hit them, you get points! Alas, at age 60, I am worth a lot. Extra points for grannies, you know. Busy intersections like Cooper’s Point and Black Lake Boulevard are the worst. Why can’t we do something with traffic signals that gives pedestrians clear passage? Or use those red light cameras to protect people trying to cross? Or have the State Patrol start observing and ticketing? This problem seems to be getting worse, not better. Our congested roadways bring out the psycho side of far too many drivers.
