Lacey police arrested a 29-year-old man Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of Sleater-Kinney Road, after he fled on foot when an officer tried to question him while he was behind the wheel of a suspected stolen vehicle.
A Lacey police officer attempted to question the driver while he was parked near the McDonald's on Sleater-Kinney Road about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Lacey officer noticed the vehicle because it looked suspicious, Lacey Police Cmdr. Jim Mack said. When he ran the vehicle's license plate, he learned it had been reported stolen Monday from the 300 block of Cushing Street NW in Olympia, Olympia Police Department spokeswoman Laura Wohl said.
The man fled on foot as the officer approached, but he was arrested after a brief chase, Mack added.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm, in addition to a misdemeanor arrest warrant.
