Two people sustained injuries and were taken to Morton General Hospital late Wednesday night after a single-vehicle crash about eight miles west of Morton.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol: A gold 2002 Saturn L34 went off Highway 12 into a ditch or culvert at Meade Hill Road, at about 11:30 p.m.

The 56-year-old Elma driver allegedly fell asleep, and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The passenger, a 48-year-old Elma woman, was not wearing a seatbelt either. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
