The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday in the Yelm area.

Around 2:30 a.m. June 6, deputies responded to a collision on Bald Hill Road Southeast and 122nd Lane Southeast. A 25-year-old man was driving northbound on Bald Hill Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into a vehicle in the opposite lane.

The driver died at the scene, according to a news release, and the driver of the second vehicle – a 68-year-old man – was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office reports that speed was a factor in the collision. It has not been determined whether alcohol or drugs were involved, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deceased man has not been identified by the Thurston County Coronor’s Office at this time.
