Note to letter writers about 2014 campaign

June 21, 2014

As the early August primary election day approaches, readers should remember a few rules for writing letters to the editor. Campaign letters are limited to 200 words and may be edited and republished in any format. Letters must address current issues. Letters containing personal attacks may be edited or rejected. Some letters may not be published in print if the volume of letters runs high, though they may be posted online.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
