Twin Star Credit Union set to close branches in Renton and Longview

Staff writerJuly 2, 2014

Twin Star Credit Union, which has its corporate office in Lacey, is set to close two branches and move a third to a new location.

The Renton branch will close Aug. 1 and the Longview branch will close Aug. 15.

The branches are closing because they did not grow like the credit union thought they would, and there’s also growing demand for online banking and other electronic forms of banking, such as mobile banking.

“We also participate in shared branch networks and ATM alliances that provide critical access to members in these areas so they will be able to maintain their accounts at Twin Star,” President and Chief Executive Jeff Kennedy said in a statement.

Twin Star also is moving a branch in Vancouver to a busier and more visible location.

The Vancouver branch is moving to 14610 SE Mill Plain Boulevard in September. An opening date will be announced later this summer.
