EVANSTON, Ill. — The Big Ten says the Northwestern-Northern Illinois football game on Sept. 6 will kick off at 2:30 p.m.
The game will be played at Ryan Field in Evanston and will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2005.
The Big Ten Network plans to televise the game.
Northwestern is coming off a 5-7 season. Northern Illinois went 12-2 last fall. The Huskies finished their season with a loss to Utah State in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
The schools are just 70 miles apart but the September game will be only the eighth between the two teams. Northwestern has beaten Northern Illinois six times and the teams tied in 1987.
