Cocaine worth about $150,000 seized in Tumwater bust

Investigators with the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force seized 2 kilograms of cocaine worth about $150,000 Monday during a stop of a sport utility vehicle in a hotel parking lot off of Tumwater Boulevard.

Lt. Loreli Thompson, who heads the task force, said children ages 5 and 7 were in the SUV, along with Conrado Quiroa-Quiroa and his girlfriend. The children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. Quiroa-Quiroa, an undocumented immigrant, was booked in the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of narcotics trafficking, she said.

Thompson said the task force is considering referring child-endangerment charges against Quiroa-Quiroa and his girlfriend for the children being in the SUV because “narcotics trafficking is inherently dangerous.” One of the children belonged to Quiroa-Quiroa’s girlfriend, and the other was a family member of Quiroa-Quiroa's, she said.

Task force investigators think the cocaine in the SUV was being transported for distribution when the vehicle was pulled over, Thompson said.
