Chehalis Tribe considers Grand Mound development

GRAND MOUND -- A mixed-use town center near the intersection of Old Highway 99 and state Route 12 is one of the higher-density ideas being eyed by the Chehalis Tribe as they plan for growth around the new Great Wolf Lodge.

The town center concept -- with restaurants, shops, hotels and pedestrian-friendly walking paths -- was one of several included this week in the first report from the tribe's consultant on a 10-year development plan for the area. The report, released by Thurston County officials who are monitoring the tribe's efforts, also includes options for lower-density development or slow growth.
