THE OLYMPIAN |
Capt. Jack won't be on board, but Budd Inlet will have a Pirates of the Caribbean atmosphere tonight when two historic tall ships sail in around 6 p.m., cannons blazing.
The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will be coming to Olympia for the annual Harbor Days festival through Monday over Labor Day weekend. The ships are departing from the Tacoma waterfront at approximately 11 this morning.
The ships will be available for public tours and sailings that celebrate the region’s maritime heritage.
The ships are scheduled to arrive at Percival Landing, 222 Columbia St. N.W.
Crew in period costume will welcome visitors aboard the ships for walk-on tours Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A $3 donation per person is requested.
The ships will also take passengers on five scheduled Battle Sails, which are three-hour excursions featuring booming cannon and close-quarters maneuvers between the two vessels.
Those sails are scheduled for Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.; Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.; and Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
