Arrest made in YMCA vehicle thefts

The Olympian

Olympia police have arrested a 19-year-old Longview woman in connection to the thefts of three vehicles from the Briggs Community YMCA last month, a news release said today.

Jaimie L. Robinson was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of first-degree theft after she reportedly confessed last week to her involvement in the thefts. Investigators believe a 17-year-old female is also involved.

Robinson and the 17-year-old are suspected of swiping vehicle keys, purses and wallets from three victims' lockers at the YMCA before taking their vehicles. In two cases, the locks were cut. No lock was used in the third incident. The thefts occurred on April 16, April 21 and April 22.

Police last week released surveillance video of two female suspects seen using a victim's credit card at the Safeway on Martin Way in Olympia. Viewers offered possible identification for the pair, and investigators then cross-referenced those names with a log of people who were given 'guest passes' at the YMCA on the days of the thefts.

Both Robinson and the 17-year-old were on those logs.

The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
