Olympia police are looking for Robert J. Maddaus and two witnesses in connection with the shooting death of Shaun Allen Peterson, whose body was found early Monday morning on Capitol Way.
Maddaus knows a warrant has been issued for his arrest and is in hiding, according to the Olympia Police Department. Also according to the department:
Maddaus was driving a dark-green 2002 Volkswagen Jetta with license plate No. 699-ZJT the night of the slaying. He also might be driving a gold-colored Acura.
Police also are looking for witnesses Daniel Leville, 39, of Lacey, and his girlfriend, Falyn Grimes, 26, of Olympia. No one answered the phone at Leville’s home today.
Maddaus has had addresses in Tumwater, Rochester and Bucoda. He might still be armed. He is described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches and 175 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.
Peterson, 40, was found at 2:43 a.m. Monday a few blocks from the Capitol. He died from gunshot wounds to the neck and torse, according to the Thurston County coroner.
Peterson’s body was found after several residents called police, saying they had heard gunshots. Multiple shell casings were found near the body.
Anyone who sees Robert Maddaus, Daniel Leville or Falyn Grimes is asked to call Detective Chris Johnstone at 360-709-2793, Detective Sgt. Dan Smith at 360-753-8205, Detective Sam Costello at 360-753-8407 or Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
