  • Photos Student Spotlight: Tim M. Wansing

    Nominated by: Linda Sohlberg, a volunteer with AFS-USA (a study abroad program). She wrote, Tim is a recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange merit-based scholarship that is offered in partnership with the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag (the German equivalent of our Congress). He has spent the academic year attending Tumwater High School as an AFS exchange student.

    Nominated by: Math teacher and yearbook advisor Kim O'Hara, who wrote: Jared steps naturally into a leadership role, whether he’s tutoring peers, managing a yearbook staff or leading an assembly. He grasps new concepts and technology quickly, embraces challenges eagerly, accepts responsibility professionally and does everything with passion and excellence. His suggestions, advice and assistance are valued by both his peers and his teachers. I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in the future.

    Nominated by: English and social studies teacher Kara Peterson, who wrote, “Joe is a very accomplished young man, having received his education in a variety of different ways, through home-schooling, online coursework and by attending the Olympia Regional Learning Academy for the past several years.

  • Student Spotlight for May 19: Dayanara Rodriguez

    Nominated by French teacher, Erin Feltman, who wrote: Already fluent in English and Spanish, Dayanara has worked very hard the past three years to master speaking French as her third language. She is always smiling and enthusiastic to learn. Dayanara is always looking for opportunities to use French — by speaking in French with me, joining French Club and even finding French speakers in the community.

    Nominated by: Cross country coach Linda Huyck. She wrote: I have known Kenna nearly four years and it's fair to say she as it all: a strong focus on present and future goals, a supportive family, close friends, top grades and excellent fitness.
