McDermott likes Clinton on Health Care

• Published February 07, 2008

Just a short note from a conference call on grants to low-income groups for health care advocacy. U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott of Seattle said grassroots work is important heading to 2009, when he expects significant federal movement on health care.

Asked which Democratic candidate for president had a better plan for expanding coverage, McDermott said: “I don’t think you can get a system working in this country that does not have requirement that people participate. I think Mrs. Clinton is further down the road in understanding the problem.”

This is part of a debate raging in some quarters over Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s proposals, hotly fueled by this Monday article, still among the New York Time’s top 10 most-read.

UPDATE: This is exactly what Clinton is addressing with an ad she will be airing in the state.

You can watch it here.

In says, "Now, (Clinton is) the only candidate for President –Democrat or Republican– with a plan to provide health care for every American."
