Cantwell forms protective ring for Clinton
Well, we probably should not picture threatened musk oxen here, but here and there you get glimpses of just how tied our own Sen. Maria Cantwell is to Sen. Hillary Clinton.Take this interesting snippet from AFP that ran out yesterday, before West Virginia results were in:
Democratic White House rivals Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had a brief encounter on Tuesday, as they took a rare diversion from the campaign trail to the Senate.
Obama, moving ever closer to capturing the Democratic nomination, enjoyed a round of backslapping and handshakes from colleagues as he strode into the Senate for a series of votes.
Clinton set up camp in a corner of the chamber, in a protective ring of supporters including Washington Senator Maria Cantwell, and her fellow New York Senator Chuck Schumer.

Cantwell joked off the possibility of being vice president this week in The Hill: “Does that include any sports picks or anything like that? … I would certainly consider it.”But she has gone beyond just putting her name on the Clinton endorsements list, including doing at least one campaign appearance outside of Washington on the campaign trail.Washington’s other senator, Patty Murray, is also a Clinton supporter. But she doesn’t seem as gung-ho. Notice her disagreement with Clinton on a gas tax holiday.
