Olympia police have identified the driver of the Ford F-150 who struck a pedestrian Monday night and then attempted to flee in a hit and run, according to a police news release.

Arthur B. Crawley, 35, was pulled over near the Olympia Farmers Market after leaving the scene of the hit and run on Pacific Avenue near Sawyer Street.

He was arrested and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital for evaluation and evidence collection, as officers reported that he appeared to be intoxicated.

The hit and run victim, Patrick Menendez, 36, of Olympia, was also taken to St. Peter with broken bones and possible internal injuries.

He was conscious and talking Tuesday, Olympia Officer Randy Wilson said. But he was listed in serious condition at the hospital, a spokeswoman said.

Crawley had driven into Olympia after three callers reported his erratic driving in the Lacey area, where he had also struck a fence.

He was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault.

The Olympia Police Department traffic unit continues to investigate this incident.

If you have information regarding this hit and run, you are asked to contact Olympia police at 360-753 8300.
