Correction: Roper Industries story

The Associated Press • Published November 09, 2009

SARASOTA, Fla. – In a Nov. 6 story about Roper Industries, The Associated Press erroneously described the effects of two acquisitions. The deals are expected to add at least $38 million to the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, not its pretax profit.

---------

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Roper Industries Inc. said Friday it is buying medical device maker Verathon Inc. and traffic software and hardware maker United Toll Services for a combined $356 million.

Verathon, which is based in Bothell, Wash., makes an ultrasound scanner called BladderScan, which is used to provide bladder volume measurements, and GlideScope, a small camera in a tube that allows doctors to view a patient's larynx, and insert feeding or breathing tubes more successfully.

United Toll Services is based in Montgomery, Ala., and makes toll and traffic software and hardware.

Roper said the deals will bring more than $140 million in revenue and at least $38 million in earnings prior to interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization in 2010. The company reported $2.31 billion in revenue in 2008.
