I wrote an outing story earlier this week about setting aside some time in mid-June to explore a South Sound beach during the lowest tides of the year.
I listed low tides from June 14 through June 23. These summer solstice tides are always low, and these are great times to seee weird marine life that usually hides underwater.
But I didn't check the tides for early June. That is strange, as I pore over tide tables all the time for fishing Puget Sound. So, I missed some very low tides from June 2 through June 8.
Luckily, readers Gary Johnston and Bill Sloane also track tides, and they sent e-mails that alerted me to the big lows in early June.
Johnston had this to say: "Chester, BETTER CHECK THE EARLY JUNE TIDES TOO!!"
Thanks guys, and I'll check the WHOLE month of June next year.
Anyway, here are the added days and low-tide times: June 2: 11:12 a.m., minus 3.3 feet. June 3: 11:58 a.m., minus 4.2 feet. June 4: 12:45 p.m., minus 4.6 feet. June 5: 1:33 p.m., minus 4.5 feet. June 6: 2:22 p.m., minus 3.9 feet. June 7: 3:10 p.m., minus 2.8 feet. June 8: 4:01 p.m., minus 1.3 feet.
