I'm interested in hearing from readers -- whether it's a weird bird flying around their backyard to the big fish that broke them off over the weekend to skiing down a favorite run. callen@theolympian.com.
Start untangling those decoy anchor lines and patch up those shot holes, as waterfowl season is less than two months away. And a special duck season for youth hunters will happen on Sept. 20 through 21.
The state Fish and Wildlife Commission has set these waterfowl seasons and limits:
Duck hunting open on Oct. 11 through 15 and from Oct. 18 through Jan. 25.
It's a good idea to know your ducks, as canvasbacks are protected this year and the scaup season is delayed until Nov. 1. Check the hunting pamphlet for limits on other duck species.
Goose hunting seasons can change by area, but the season opens on Oct. 11 and runs into January 2009 in most areas.
