I'm interested in hearing from readers -- whether it's a weird bird flying around their backyard to the big fish that broke them off over the weekend to skiing down a favorite run. callen@theolympian.com.
I'm still shaking the sand of Sayulita, Mexico out of my ears, but I see that the big Washington Sportsmen's Show opens Wednesday at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.
This is usually a pretty good show -- and a great time to see new products for the new year, learn new skills at seminars and maybe get a bargain on a fishing or hunting trip in 2009.
I see that the "Steelhead River" seminar is back, and it was cool to see local experts cast for real steelhead finning away behind fake rocks last year.
Two U.S. Army 2008 Summer Olympics shooting competitors will be on hand this weekend.
And it appears that anyone can bundle up in GORE-TEX clothes and then dials up a little weather on a machine. Will you get wet in the Extreme Weather Chamber? I think the real extreme weather chamber is the entire Northwest during this extreme winter.
Anyway, the show starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday. Visit www.otshows.com for more information. If you see me there, say hello!
