Some light President's Day reading for anyone who happens to be checking the education blog on a federal holiday: C-SPAN released the results of its survey of historians on how they ranked presidential leadership. Lincoln topped the list. His predecessor, James Buchanan --- remembered mostly for failing to avert the secession of the south --- came in last.

You can check out the list yourself to find your favorite pre-Obama president.

Thursday was Lincoln's bicentennial. He was born Feb. 12, 1809.
