This week, Olympia, North Thurston and Tumwater all plan to hold workshops and study sessions for their 2009-10 budgets.
The districts (not just here, but throughout the state) are expecting to take a financial hit next year, as the state struggles to meet a shortfall in the next biennium. However, how much of a hit the 2009-10 budget won't be known for certain until the legislature agrees on a statewide budget. School officials have told me that will be certain after the formal state revenue forecast is released on Thursday (March 19).
So, here are the wheres, whens and links:
Olympia School Districtwill hold a school board study session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Knox Administrative Center, 1113 Legion Way S.E., Olympia. Here is Olympia's budget Web page.
North Thurstonwill hold its school finance workshop at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the District Office, 305 College St. NE, Lacey. Here is North Thurston's budget Web page.
Tumwater School Districtinvites parents and community members to the first meeting of the district’s 2009 Budget Advisory Committee from 5:15 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Administrative Office, 419 Linwood Ave., Tumwater. Here is Tumwater's budget page (and here's Tuesday's agenda).
