• Published September 05, 2008

Age: 17

School: Graduate of River Ridge High School entering the University of Washington

Hometown: Olympia

Parents: Scott and Pamela Tebeau

Best personal achievement: Admission to the Honors Program and a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to the University of Washington.

How I spend my time: I spent the summer working and participating as a member of the board of the South Puget Environmental Education Clearing House, publisher of the Green Pages.

Favorite subject: Advanced placement government

Favorite movie: "Little Miss Sunshine"

Favorite book: "A People's History of the United States," by Howard Zinn

Dream job: Environmental lawyer

Someone I respect: My parents, who escaped poverty by getting college educations and working hard.

Famous people I'd like to meet: Howard Zinn and Bono.

Someday, looking back on my life, I'd like to be able to say: That I took advantage of opportunities, worked hard, and was proactive.

Biggest challenge facing teenagers today: The economy is not healthy, and many teenagers on the brink of adulthood and independence will have to struggle to be financially independent.

One thing in the world I would change if I could: I would ask for world prosperity: Stable homes for children, food for everyone, peace, harmony, understanding, respect, human rights, environmental health, etc.

Where do I see myself in 10 years: I hope to be a practicing environmental lawyer, and politically involved.

Teacher comment: "She is an excellent student who is involved in many extracurricular activities. She was River Ridge High School's representative to the Lakefair Court last year. She is a quiet leader who holds herself to very high standards." Traci Birbeck, facilitator, and Kathy Knobel counselor, River Ridge High School.
