Constantine wins in King County

County Council Chairman Dow Constantine won Tuesday over former TV news anchor Susan Hutchison in the race for King County executive.

With 39 percent of the expected vote counted in Tuesday’s election, Constantine led Hutchison with roughly 57 percent to her 43 percent.

In the Seattle mayoral race, Sierra Club activist Mike McGinn had an early lead over T-Mobile executive Joe Mallahan in the race for Seattle’s mayor.

McGinn led Mallahan with roughly 50.5 percent to his 49.4 percent.Less than 1,000 votes separated the two candidates out more than 84,000 counted.

Mallahan and McGinn are two political newcomers. Both outpolled Mayor Greg Nickels in the August primary.
