This year’s performances of Shadows of the Past will debut Saturday at Mount Rainier National Park.
The program, expanded to multiple weekends this summer, gives park visitors a chance to hear from people portraying some of the park’s most influential characters. Park rangers and volunteers lead visitors along the Trail of the Shadows at Longmire where actors are stationed. The play portrays people such as John Muir, P.B. Van Trump and Fay Fuller.
The ranger-led lantern tours depart every 20 minutes between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and last about 90 minutes, rain or shine. Bring a warm jacket, insect repellent, a flashlight and sturdy shoes. The program is free with park admission.
The program also will be held July 24, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21.
Never miss a local story.
