Reminder: Fireworks don’t belong in recyclables bin

Thurston County Solid Waste officials remind Fourth of July celebrants to toss debris from fireworks displays into the trash, not recycling bins.

Some fireworks packaging contains paper or cardboard, but there are other items attached to the packaging that make it unfit for recycling, including shiny coatings, plastic bases and tubes, and residue from explosives. Soak all fireworks in a bucket of water before throwing them into the trash can.
