BURIEN — Although Capital took the early lead, the skillful Tyee side was too much to handle as the Cougars lost, 4-1, on Tuesday night in the first round of the Class 2A state soccer tournament at Highline Stadium.
OLYMPIA — Capital had two goals in a 5-minute span of the second-half to secure District IV’s final state boys soccer berth with a 2-0 victory over Centralia on Saturday night in a winner-to-state, loser-out game at Ingersoll Stadium.
PORT ORCHARD — Olympia’s Sofia Kane entered the girls 3,200 meters Saturday at the Narrows League track and field championships with the state’s fifth-best 4A time at 11 minutes, 2.49 seconds.
BURIEN — In a sport where one player’s brilliance can make the difference, Mountain View had not one player, but two do the damage when North Thurston had trouble stopping forward Rylan Berriman and slipping anything past goalkeeper Christian Asivido.
TACOMA — The Wilson Rams finished third in the 3A Narrows League regular-season fastpitch standings behind champion North Thurston and Timberline.
CHEHALIS — Brady Calkins was on cruise control from the mound, but just to be on the safe side, he did some damage with his bat as well.
CHEHALIS — Tumwater swept the boys and girls team titles at the 2A Evergreen Conference track and field championships Friday afternoon at Bearcat Stadium.
CHEHALIS — In all of his years of coaching high school baseball, Jamie Weeks has never seen anything like what he saw in the sixth inning Wednesday night.
It’s hard to believe that through 17 prior victories this season the North Thurston Rams never had an inning at the plate like they did Wednesday.
