High school students are invited to apply to a two-week summer camp at Lacey's sister city, Minsk Mazowiecki, Poland.
The city is hosting its seventh International Youth Camp for about 80 international students. The purpose of the camp is to foster understanding and promote cultural exchange among high school students ages 14 to 16. Other camp participants will be from Minsk's other 10 sister cities, including Russia, Czech Republic, Germany and Lithuania.
Camp activities include camp Olympics, swimming, dance and music nights and sightseeing trips. Group presentations by camp participants will introduce everyone to the various countries and customs.
The cost is estimated at $2,200, which includes airfare, a travel stipend for the chaperone and gifts for camp participants and chaperones from other countries.
Applications require essays, letters of recommendation and a parent signature. Applicants do not need to speak Polish or any foreign language to be selected for the camp. Applications are due June 10.
