  • National adoption day-ecstatic mother overjoyed by her son's adoption

"He's is officially ours," said an ecstatic Chrystal Jones of St. Louis after Judge David Byrn finalized the adoption of her son, Darren, 6, on National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, in Jackson County Family Court. For Jones and her husband, Chad Jones, this is the second boy the couple has adopted. In 2015, they adopted Kele, 13, who was on hand for his brother's adoption Friday carrying a sign in court that read, "The Best Heroes Are Adopted." "I cannot believe that this day has come and that gavel has fallen and he's our forever," said Jones. In all, 31 families adopted 46 children during the National Adoption Day at the Family Justice Center, 625 E. 26th St., in Kansas City.
