Snow sports lovers heading to Crystal Mountain and other points on state Route 410 should expect weekday delays for the next 2 1/2 weeks, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Maintenance crews are working to prepare an eroding bank of the White River below the eastbound lane about 5 1/2 miles west of Crystal Mountain Boulevard. The erosion is a threat to the road. Expect delays of approximately 30 minutes between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays until March 9. Both lanes are scheduled to stay open on weekends.
“Crews will do their best to shorten how long travelers need to wait during the morning and afternoon peak travel times,” said Assistant Regional Administrator Dave McCormick in a statement posted on the WSDOT website. “However, we do expect traffic on the highway to be heavier as local schools are on mid-winter break and more visitors are expected at the resort.”
The weather-dependent work started Wednesday and includes using wood, rock and boulders to strengthen the slope.
