While it has been awhile since they got fresh snow, some ski areas are reporting the cold, dry air has improved conditions by taking some of the moisture out of the snowpack.
White Pass is expecting to reopen today after being closed all this week so the staff could concentrate on making snow full-time. The area was reporting 29 inches at the base on Wednesday morning.

The cold weather this week has helped stabilize the existing snowpack, helping reduce avalanche conditions to low danger levels, according to the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center. You can get detailed reports at www.nwac.us.
The forecast calls for increasing clouds throughout the Cascades, with periods of light snow to the south on Saturday. On Sunday, the snow will taper off.
