GIG HARBOR STREET SCRAMBLE
What: Whether you are a walker, runner or cyclist, you can participate in a street scramble. You will receive a map shortly before the race, marked with about 30 checkpoints. Each checkpoint is assigned a point value. When the race starts, you will have 90 minutes or three hours (depending which event you sign up for) to visit as many checkpoints as possible, answering a question on your scorecard at each stop. If you don’t return on time, you will lose points for each minute you are late. The player and team (teams must stick together at all times) with the most points wins.
When: Saturday. Maps are distributed at 9:30 a.m. and events start at 10 a.m. Register between 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Where: Skansie Brothers Park, 3207 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor.
Getting there: From state Route 16, take the Wollochet Drive/Pioneer Way exit. Turn right on to Pioneer Way. At Harborview Drive in downtown Gig Harbor, turn left. The park will be on the right.
Also: This is one of a series of street scrambles around Western Washington. Tacoma hosts a street scramble on June 23.
