Bayview School of Cooking wants to help you freshen up this season's entertaining with some new food and beverage ideas for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's offered in a series of courses.
Nov. 11, 6-8:30 p.m., $45 – How to Cook a Thanksgiving Dinner: First-time Thanksgiving cooks can get a simple game plan from Chef John Edwards, who will show them cost-effective ways to roast a turkey complete with mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing and cranberry relish. Complementary wine pairing.
Nov. 15, 2-3:30 p.m., $25 – Sunday Stirrings Mini Cooking Class on Cranberries Beyond Relish: Nancy Hebb will demonstrate various uses of cranberries including cranberry curd, pork chops in cranberry and brandy sauce, and cranberry and white chocolate cookies.
Nov. 19, 6-8:30 p.m., $50 – Thai Party Food: Pranee Khruasanit Halvorsen demonstrates make-ahead Thai dishes for easy entertaining. She will prepare Rama garden (pan-fried spicy tofu with peanut sauce), miang kam (pepper leaf wrapped Thai herbs, nuts and condiments), moo yang ta krai (grilled spicy pork on lemongrass served with sweet chili dipping sauce), kao phad geang keow wan goong (green curry fried rice with Thai basil) and her own lychee martini mix. Complementary wine pairing.
Nov. 20, 5-7:30 p.m., $12 – Fridays Uncorked with Wines for Holiday Entertaining: Find the perfect celebratory wine for gift giving or event uncorking. Ongoing pourings and presentations at this casual wine tasting allow you to arrive anytime for samples. Complementary cheeses included. Discounted prices to those attending on bottles of wines featured that evening.
Nov. 23 & Nov. 24 (class repeated), 6-8:30 p.m., $45 – French Holiday Cuisine: Chef Thierry Liot’s special occasion menu includes coquilles Saint Jacques, roasted leg of lamb and dried green beans and swan-shaped profiteroles (cream puffs topped with a warm chocolate sauce). Complementary wine pairing.
