The Seattle Theatre Group, which operates The Paramount Theatre, and Broadway Across America are offering open captioning for patrons with hearing loss at select Broadway engagements at the Paramount.
Through a partnership with the Theatre Development Fund, this service is the first of its kind in the Northwest. It began with a successful test-run Aug. 10 during "A Chorus Line."
Open caption performances feature a text display to the side of the stage that scrolls the dialogue and lyrics in synchronicity with the performance. Upcoming dates are:
"Spring Awakening:" 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19.
"The Color Purple:" 6:30 p.m. Dec. 28.
Tickets are available at www.theparamount.com, by phone at 206-292-ARTS, and at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more call 888-214-6856. The Paramount Theatre is at 911 Pine St. in downtown Seattle.
