tonight's best bets

"The Tenth Circle," 9 p.m. on Lifetime. Lifetime movies always work better when they're based on best-selling novels rather than being "inspired by actual events." Case in point: this adaptation of Jodi Picoult's tale of a family rocked by tragedy. The rape of a 14-year-old girl (Britt Robertson) and the subsequent suicide of the accused (Jamie Johnston) uncovers some unsavory secrets in the girl's family. Kelly Preston and Ron Eldard play her parents.
