Unity Church of Olympia, is a drop-off site for donations of new and gently worn clothing, outerwear, toiletries, food and gift cards for flood victims in Lewis and Thurston counties. Working with the nonprofit organization, Help 4 Hard Times, all donations go directly into the hands of those in need. Sixth Annual Friendship Run, sponsored by Westside Cooperative Preschool, is a 5K run/walk, and free Kids' Tot-Trot. The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, with registration at 7:30 a.m., at McLane Elementary School, 200 Delphi Road S.W., Olympia. Cost is $25 for the race before Feb. 1, and $30 after. Martin Luther King Day/Inauguration National Day of Service, Thurston County Citizens for Change is organizing a food drive to collect donations for the Thurston County Food Bank. Volunteers and donations are needed for service projects being organized for Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 19, and Inauguration Day, Jan. 20. Warm Coats for Kids, Top Food & Drug stores are collecting donations now through Jan. 31, of new or gently worn warm coats, hats, scarves and mittens to be distributed to women's and children's centers. Participating Top Food & Drug stores locally are located at 5600 Martin Way, Lacey; and 1313 Cooper Point Road S.W., Olympia.
