Archbishop Murphy (10-1) vs. Chehalis (11-0), 3 p.m. Saturday, Tumwater District Stadium

It’s no surprise Archbishop Murphy is back in the state quarterfinals. Led by Alex Martinez’s 103 yards rushing against RA Long last week, the Wildcats on are in the quarterfinals for the second time in three seasons. Chehalis coach Bob Wollan has strong ties against the Wildcats. In 2005 – as the coach at Pullman -- he led the Greyhounds to a 28-24 win over Archbishop Murphy for the 2A state title. Chehalis will have to rely more on the pass with do-everything quarterback Ben Ternan and receiver Erik Forgione and will be without leader rusher Brennan Casteel. Casteel tore his ACL in Chehalis’ 38-20 win over Blaine last week. Chehalis has never advanced past the quarterfinals in school history.

Cascade Christian (11-0) vs. Montesano (11-0), 7 p.m. Saturday, Tumwater District Stadium

Montesano’s toughest challenge on the season will come against a team that knocked them out of the semifinals for the third consecutive season, 35-14. The top-ranked Bulldogs have posted nine shutouts in their 11 games and are coming off a 54-14 win over Meridian in the first round. Senior Ryan Campbell – the league’s offensive and defensive MVP – has more than 1,100 yards rushing and close to 100 tackles as a linebacker. Cascade Christian, of Puyallup, defeated Toledo, 49-14, last week and is a dangerous running team. The Cougars feature all-Nisqually League running back tandem of Tyler Walrath and Spencer Ramos, but spread the wealth around to two more running backs – Colton Faverty and Brendan Ossman.
