Quirky indie-pop, especially the kind with a sing-along quality, will always have a special place in my heart. I was happy to stumble on a new track by the Did I step on your trumpet? by the band known (sometimes) as Danielson.

Okay, the song is really more like a musical theater piece, with a wild story and wacky visuals that frankly, I haven't really listened to close enough to decipher yet. BUT is is within the uravelling of of the story, upon repeated listens, that gives me a deeper meaning and relationship with the artist and the music. A bit of web searching and I uncovered the story behind Danielson the man/band/art project. Daniel Smith, the main force behind Danielson and it' s many monikers (Danielson Famile, Tri-Danileson, Br. Danielson) conceived the band as an art-school project. The group is currently touring sporting hand-made uniforms that resemble security guards with hearts-on-sleeves. Smith has been known to perform in a nine-foot hand-made tree costume. If you know where he is going with this, you will probably dig the music as well.
