A 22-year-old Olympia man appeared in court Monday after an arrest on suspicion of possession of child pornography.
Joshua Starnes, of the 1800 block of Berry Street, was arrested at his home Thursday on suspicion of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and sending or bringing into the state depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Members of the Washington State Patrol’s Missing and Exploited Children Task Force arrested Starnes after a federal agent in Boston notified the task force that Starnes was using his computer to access a chat room that was trading images of child pornography, court papers state. Starnes admitted to receiving and sending out images of child pornography “over the past year or so,” court papers state.
Members of the task force seized computers belonging to Starnes after executing a search warrant at the residence.
Starnes was being held Monday at the Thurston County Jail, with bail set at $10,000.
