BELLINGHAM - A man was arrested for assaulting a parking enforcement officer after being told his van would be towed for unpaid parking tickets Thursday evening, June 10.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., a parking enforcement officer approached Paul Nelson Cullom, 50, in the 1200 block of North Forest Street to inform him his van was going to be towed for unpaid parking tickets, said Bellingham Police Department Sgt. Mike Johnston.
Cullom, who was sitting in the van, refused to get out and told the officer he was not going to allow him to tow the van. The officer then told Cullom he would be arrested for obstruction if he did not cooperate, Johnston said.
Cullom then got out of the van and pushed the parking enforcement officer down, Johnston said.
Police responded shortly after and arrested Cullom for third-degree assault and obstructing a public servant.
