SOUTH KITSAP - An Olalla-area man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of first-degree assault for allegedly cutting his girlfriend with a knife.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a possible domestic dispute at the end of Bandix Road. When they arrived shortly after midnight, they found a Jeep in a driveway and an intoxicated man lying underneath it to keep it from leaving. There was a woman was in the driver's seat and another standing outside.
The woman outside, a 40-year-old who lived in the trailer, said she called the other woman to pick her up. She said she and the 38-year-old man had been drinking at a Belfair bar. When they came home, the man began acting erratically. He waved a knife at the woman, who was cut on the wrist when she tried to block it with her hands and arms, according to the police report.
He grabbed her from behind, put the knife to her throat and said, "Do you think I won't slit your throat right now?" She got him to cool off by saying she wouldn't leave.
So when the ride came, the man went down the driveway and smacked the Jeep five to 10 times with an ax handle, damaging car. Then he got under it so it couldn't leave.
He was arrested and taken to the Kitsap County jail with bail set at $100,000.
