Law enforcement officers arrested 404 people on suspicion of driving under the influence during a recent enforcement campaign that stretched over nearly four weeks.
The Drive Hammered, Get Nailed campaign ran from Aug. 12 to Sept. 6. Officers from 172 agencies participated statewide and arrested 2,672 drivers on suspicion of DUI, according to a press release.
Of those arrests, 404 drivers were stopped on Pierce County roads.
The following agencies took part: Bonney Lake, Fife, Fircrest, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Orting, Puyallup, Ruston, Sumner, Tacoma and the University Place police departments, the Steilacoom Department of Public Safety, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and the Washington State Patrol.
The state Traffic Safety Commission funded the emphasis patrols.
