An overnight standoff in the Bonney Lake area has reportedly ended when the suspect shot and killed himself, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ed Troyer.
Around 10:30 p.m., a woman inside the house called police to report that two males were fighting over electronics and had guns out. Police could hear the men arguing in the background, according to Troyer. Deputies had responded to the 14600 block of Prairie Ridge Drive East. Troyer said a couple of shots were fired at deputies which missed.
The suspect retreated back into the house after the shooting. The other occupants were able to evacuate the residence.
The SWAT team eventually responded to the neighborhood and roads were blocked off around the scene. Negotiators attempted to make contact with the man inside the house but were unsuccessful. Some distraction devices were fired in the house that caused explosions. At around 3:30 a.m., the SWAT team was able to make a visually inside the house. They saw the suspect lying on the floor. The team went into the house early found a man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troyer said it was probable that the suspect shot himself right away.
