A 16-year-old Tacoma-area boy was injured Wednesday night when he met up with two men who claimed they wanted to buy the teen's car.
The teen had advertised the vehicle on Craigslist. He met up with two potential buyers just before 11 p.m. Wednesday at South 56th Street and Pacific Avenue, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The potential buyers directed the teen to a residential area near East 51st Street and McKinley Avenue. Once there, the subjects attacked the teen. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun.
The men repeatedly kicked and punched the teen, Fulghum said.
A neighbor heard the commotion, came outside and asked what was going on. While the two men were distracted, the teen escaped. He was able to get to a nearby location and 911 was called. Paramedics responded and transported the teen to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, Fulghum said.
Meanwhile, the two men left the area in the teen's car. A police dog tried tracking the men but did not find the suspects, Fulghum said.
No arrests have been made.
